KATY
Katy Urban, a wife, parent, experienced communicator, and community advocate, has a rich background in communications and a deep-rooted commitment to the Rapid City community. Katy aims to bring her passion for education and diverse experiences to serve the students, families, and staff of RCAS.
Deeply connected to the Black Hills community, Katy attended K-12 in the RCAS district, fostering a multi-generational tie to the area. As a parent of children enrolled in RCAS, Katy is eager to give back by serving on the Board of Education.

• Communication: Two-way communication matters; Board members should be accessible and transparent to the people
they serve.
• Recognizing the critical role our teachers and support staff play in student success, I want to contribute creative solutions for recruiting and retaining staff.
• Our children deserve to learn in safe schools that are conducive to 21st Century learning. We need a strategic facilities plan that our community can support.
